SS02: Reliability and Stability of HPEM Test (generator, gas switch, peaking capacitor, and sensor)

Session Chair: Dr. Wei Jia

Brief Introduction: In order to increase the credibility of the experimental results, the reliability and stability of HPEM tests has been paid more and more attention. The reliable establishment of primary sources, the insulation of peak capacitors, the breakdown stability of output switches, the calibration and stability of measurement probes, the environmental adaptability of experimental platforms, and data processing methods are all involved. This special session will embrace the reliability and stability of HPEM test. All submissions related to the issues mentioned above are welcome .  

 

SS03: Superconductivity and Cryogenics

Session Chair: Prof. Li Quan

Brief Introduction: Superconductivity has been successfully demonstrated for next-generation energy and EM applications, such as high-power electromagnets, ultimate wireless charging, and quantum computing. This special session, for the first time, embraces superconductivity and its applications as one of the main streams of ASIAEM, as well as the cryogenic technology for EM applications. All submissions related to the superconducting applications, properties of superconductors in particular their EM characteristics, and EM-related cryogenic systems are welcome. The session will bring together worldwide experts to share ground-breaking findings and to foster collaborative and interdisciplinary work with promising future impact.

 

SS04: Toward Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Session Chair: Prof. Lu Mai

Brief Introduction: Deep transcranial magnetic stimulation (deep-TMS) involves the interaction between an applied electric field and deep brain tissues. The applied field is generated by a brief, transient high intensity magnetic field (2-3 Tesla) which is generated when a brief, transient electric current (5000~8000 Ampere) flows through a magnetic coil placed upon the scalp. Deep-TMS plays a role in the study of reward and motivation mechanisms, which may be beneficial in the treatment of several neurological and psychiatric disorders. This session focuses on the issue of the shape and the electrical properties of tissues affecting the electric field distribution and aims to show to what extent this distribution can be altered by using different kinds of deep-TMS coils. The invited speakers will discuss their research in computational models in TMS and deep-TMS. The session intends to explore to which extent the field estimates based on advanced computational models correlate with the physiological stimulation effects.

 

SS05: Gyromagnetic Nonlinear Transmission Line

Brief Introduction: Gyromagnetic nonlinear transmission line has been successfully demonstrated for high power RF generation without relativistic electron beam and vacuum environment. It brings the benefits of building a comparably compact and lightweight solid system with adjustable frequency. This special session, for the first time, embraces gyromagnetic nonlinear transmission line and its applications as one of the main streams of ASIAEM. All submissions related to the theoretical analysis, simulations and experiments of the gyromagnetic nonlinear transmission line technology and its applications are welcome . The session will bring together worldwide experts to share ground-breaking findings and to foster collaborative and interdisciplinary work with promising future impact.

 

SS06: Influence of Geomagnetic Disturbance on Infrastructures
Session Chairs: Prof. Liu Chunming, Prof. Wang Zezhong and Prof. Liang Zhishan

Brief Introduction: As ground effect of space weather, the geomagnetic disturbance (GMD) drives geomagnetically induced currents (GIC) in large-scale infrastructures, such as power grid, pipelines and railways, and causes negative effects on those systems. This special session, for the first time, embraces the influence of GMD on infrastructures as one of the main streams of ASIAEM. All submissions are welcome related to the observing, testing, and modelling of the effect of GMD as well as accessing its risk on crucial infrastructures. The session will bring together worldwide experts to share ground-breaking findings and to foster collaborative and interdisciplinary work with promising future impact.
